Angling Programmes

SSTRAI in partnership with the other Angling Council Ireland federations / organisations are running a number of Angling CAST Programmes. Theses are in Game, Sea angling boat and Shore, Pike and Predator Angling.

ANGLING CAST PROGRAMME

The CAST programme introduces novice anglers to the sport over a six week period and covers from introductory up to level 3. It is around 22 hours in total, this may be extended for some groups as required. Following completion of the level 3 if anglers wish they can advance to level 4, 5 and 6 over the next few months. This will bring them to competition standard.

Cope Foundation in Cork, anglers enjoy the learning and we have modified elements for our Angling for All programme
Angling for Youth Development Ireland

SSTRAI also runs the Angling for Youth Development Programme Ireland (AFYDI) for ACI, this programme is aimed at novice young anglers under 18. The programme is delivered to male and female or other groups. We incorporate more classroom based learning on this programme. Some groups find this very interesting. We also carryout kick sampling for invertebrates, and allow the youths to use the nets, and digi-microscopes to view the creatures on the large screen. They then compare them to the charts. We include some competition elements into this to help keep the interest and most importantly have plenty of fun elements into the learning.

Angling for All

Our “Angling for All” programmes cover both disability and inclusion, we basically include everyone who wishes to learn how to fish or just want to go fishing in a controlled environment.

These include groups such as Cork North Travellers, 3 groups currently, Headway Acquired Brain Injury Groups Ballincollig, and Carrigrohane, Cork Veterans, Women in Sport Groups, Cope Foundation Togher group, Montennottee Group and Glanmire Group, Rebel Wheelers, Ukrainian refugees, Simon Community , Cork Penny Dinners, Men’s Shed group, among others.
