SSTRAI club members can apply to become ACI coaches, these courses are also independently certified by Coaching Ireland in line with the National Coaching Development Programme for Ireland. THe ACI produces a programme of courses each year and clubs can recommend members to join the courses at venues throughout the 32 counties.
Course cost €100 for introductory level, however these are subsidised by €80 for 2014 and will only cost the club or coach €20 for the one day course.
On completion of the course there are three additional one day courses available to the coaches, these continuous professional development (CPD) courses are designed to equip the coaches with the necessary additional knowledge and skills to allow them progress to the level 1 three day course and be fully competent to coach independently without supervision of tutor or senior coach.
The CPD courses include 1 day Coaching People with Disabilities, the morning is class room based and the afternoon is delivering practical angling coaching session to clients with disabilities.
The Health & Safety, Risk assessment, Safe Wading and River Rescue i day CPD course is again class room based in the morning with practical demonstrations and exercises in the afternoon in the field and river, lake or shoreline.
Finally the third CPD course is a1 day Basic First Aid Course delivered by an expert qualified Para medic instructor.
All courses are delivered by professionally qualified and certified tutors.

2 courses are planned for Northern Ireland in March and these are book fully.
We have planned 2 CPD Courses for Athleague in April, Coaching People with disabilities and H&S, Safe Wading and River Rescue. All coaches who have completed the introductory level 2013 can now apply for these courses.
A Level 1 course will also commence in March and be completed in April, applicants for the level must have the recommendatiuon of the SSTRAI NGB, priority is given to those who are longest qualified.
